The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 is the company’s version of what a heart rate monitor should be. It has an excellent build quality for a reasonable price which won’t break the bank, and it is simple to use.
The market is flooded with all kinds of gadgets that promise to keep track of your health in more ways than one. Finding the right activity tracker to suit your needs can become a daunting task for some people.
Xiaomi’s approach to the connected health revolution is a consistent, steady stream quality products with a structured purpose.
The Mi Band 2 might not be the most famous household name when it comes to wearables, but that doesn’t mean you should dismiss it by a long shot.
Not only does it monitor your heart rate, but it also tracks your sleeping patterns to give you an idea of the quality of rest you’re getting during the night.
In the beginning, I wasn’t a fan of the strap because I found it troublesome to get on. Snapping one the end of the band into the holes, took a bit of time at first and I would have preferred a better solution.
But after wearing the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 for about an hour or so, I did find it was a secure fit. I haven’t had any troubles with it falling off or coming loose so far, and I am finding it more comfortable to wear.
Capturing your heart rate is simple enough that anyone can do it quickly. I have to rotate the device to the inside of my wrist to get a reading. This can be an inconvenience as I have to move it from a comfortable position.
It is IP67 Waterproof, meaning you can wear this activity tracker in the shower or a pool if you are into swimming.
You’ll need to be running a smartphone with Android 4.4+ or iOS 7+ to download and use the free mobile app.
Within this app, there are a lot of options from setting your target walking distances to getting SMS and incoming call notifications from your phone. You can also see your activity history within your profile and connect with friends. Pairing is done through Bluetooth, and the Built-in 70mAh battery lasts a long time even while it’s in constant use.
