As promised, Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Tab S6 just a few days before the launch of the Galaxy Note 10. The tablet is the successor to the 2-year old Galaxy Tab S4 and brings in a host of new features. The Tab S6 goes head-to-head against the iPad Pro and is the only high-end Android tablet that is available in the market today. With the Android tablet scene mostly dead, let’s find out how good the Samsung offering really is.
The tablet is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 SoC and is paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM. You can choose between 128GB and 256GB of onboard storage. For anyone who wants higher storage capacity, there’s a Micro-SD card slot for storage expansion (up to 1TB).

10.5-inch of Super AMOLED Greatness
While the new Tab S6 may not have the 120Hz Pro-motion Display found on the iPad Pro, it’s Super AMOLED 2560 x 1600p display is unquestionably better. The bezels on all four sides are much smaller too- on par with the iPad Pro 11.
Speakers And Camera
Just like the Galaxy Tab S5e, the Tab S6 features quad-speaker that is tuned by AKG.
On the back of the tablet, there’s not one but two cameras- one with a standard lens and the other with a wide-angle lens. While many reviewers claim that cameras on tablets are useless, I think otherwise.
You never know when you will need to take a photo, and knowing that you have a decent camera on the back of your tablet is always reassuring.
However, don’t expect Galaxy S10 camera performance on Tab S6 as the company has used a lower-quality 13MP(standard) and 5MP(wide-angle) sensor. Samsung claims that they are the first one to put a dual rear camera on a tablet and I see no reason not to believe them.
Slim Design, Small Battery
At 5.7mm, the Galaxy Tab S6 is the slimmest tablet available on the market. It’s even slimmer than the iPad Pro 11 and 12.9. Unfortunately, because of the slim design, the battery isn’t as large on the Tab S6. It has a 7040mAh battery which is smaller than what is found on both the Tab S4 as well as the iPad 11.
The Galaxy Tab S6 charges using a supplied 18W wall brick. There’s support for fast charging and the company claims that the tablet will last for 15 hours between charges. I just wish a faster charger was included on the box. A 25W charger that is rumored to come with the Galaxy Note 10 would have been great.
S-Pen included In The Box
Unlike Apple, who charges $129 for their Apple Pencil, Samsung has included the S-Pen in the box. The pen attaches to the back of the Tab S6 magnetically and charges fully in 10 minutes. Is it as good as the Apple Pencil? Well, I am not sure. But if you aren’t an artist, you should be just fine with the S-Pen.
Prices for the Galaxy Tab S6 starts at $650. If you want the keyboard cover, you will have to pay $180 extra.
What do you think of the Galaxy Tab S6? Do you think it’s a worthy competitor to the iPad Pro?
