We might be four months away from the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S11, but there’s a lot we already know about the smartphone. In this article, we will be covering the major leaks and rumors of the Galaxy S11 coming from legitimate sources. So, let’s get to it.
Samsung is a large corporation with a very diversified portfolio. They make everything ranging from Washing Machines and TVs to Ships and Tanks. Among all its holdings, the smartphone business is unquestionably a significant revenue stream for the company.
The smartphone business alone brought an operating profit of $2.5 billion in the third quarter of 2019 to Samsung.
The success of the Galaxy S11, the company’s flagship phone for 2020, will dictate how the Galaxy line of phones will perform in the coming year. As such, it’s crucial for Samsung to get the Galaxy S11 right.
Thankfully, it looks like Samsung is headed in the right direction.
Samsung Galaxy S11 Family
Just as it was the case with S10, the Galaxy S11 family will come with the following phones in the lineup:
- Samsung Galaxy S11e
- Samsung Galaxy S11
- Samsung Galaxy S11+
Design And Display On The Galaxy S11
The Galaxy S11e is rumored to come with a 6.2-inch Full HD+ display while the 6.7-inch Galaxy S11 and the 6.9-inch Galaxy S11+ will feature a QHD+ display.
All three phones will have a small camera cutout on the top-center of the phone.
It would have been great to have a phone with no notch or camera cutout of any kind. Samsung has been experimenting with the under-display camera module, but it is still not ready for prime time.
GSMArena reports that the yield of such a display is so low that it won’t be sufficient to implement on the S11.
We will probably see this technology first making its way in the Galaxy Fold 2.
From the front, the Galaxy S11 Trio will look similar to its predecessor except for the front camera placement.
The bezels on the bottom are sized down too. However, the change is so minimal you will barely notice it unless you place the phone side-by-side to the Galaxy S10.
What you will immediately notice, though, is the screen size. All the S11e, S11, and the S11+ will be larger than their predecessors.
Cameras On The Samsung Galaxy S11
Currently, not only does the software on the S10 series fall short in comparison to its competitors, but the camera module is showing its age too.
You might be surprised to learn that the S10/Note 10 uses the same primary camera that we first saw on the Galaxy S7.
Well, the Galaxy S11 will see a departure from the now-old 12MP sensor, with a 1.4μm pixel size.
Replacing it will be an all-new 108MP sensor that Samsung engineered in association with Xiaomi.
New reports suggest that it won’t be the same sensor Xiaomi uses on its recently launched Mi Note 10 Pro.
Instead, it will be a second version of the 108MP module designed for flagship phones.
That’s not all; we should be getting a 5x optical zoom on the Galaxy 11- the first on any Samsung phone.
The software on the Galaxy S11 camera will be heavily revised. Google, Huawei, and Apple are doing amazing things with their camera software.
So, it’s great to know that Samsung will be taking its camera software more seriously.
The video features on the Galaxy series of phones have always been solid but lacked a bit when it came to computational photography. The S11 should solve that while adding new modes like Space Zoom.
Top Of The Line Hardware Across The Board
And I believe the rumors.
Samsung always puts great hardware on its phones, and the S11 will follow suit.
The Galaxy 11 will come with either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 or Exynos 9830 (depending on region) and 8GB of RAM.
The Galaxy 11+ is tipped to come with 12GB of RAM.
Long story short, you won’t be experiencing slow-down or lag with the Galaxy S11. And the phone will be able to run any game you throw at it without an issue.
#Nov 25 Galaxy S11e Update
Samsung is purportedly going big with the Galaxy S11e. Unlike the S10e which looked like a Galaxy S10 on a budget, the S11e is going to be really comparable with the S11 both in terms of design and in terms of features.
The S11e will have a triple camera setup on the rear- the S10e just had two. Not only that, the front panel of the S11e will be curved putting it in line with the flagship S11.
Also, the fingerprint scanner won’t be mounted on the power key. Instead, the phone will use an under-display fingerprint scanner.
Lastly, Samsung is looking to increase the battery size of the S11e substantially. If the rumors turn out to be true, we are looking at a 4000mAh battery, a beefy 900mAh battery upgrade from the S10e.
#Nov 27 Galaxy S11+ Update
A new Samsung Galaxy S11+ render has surfaced which shows a huge camera bump.
While the source of this render is questionable, it is believable that the S11+ will have such a bump at the back. After all, the phone is said to come with 5 cameras on the back alongside two small sensors.
Also, let’s not forget that the primary camera will have a 108MP sensor with a 5x optical zoom.
The source claims that the S11+ will have 8.8mm thickness while the bump will add an additional 1.4mm on the back.
