Apple’s September event is going to be more than just a next-generation iPhone showcase. If there are no final minute plan changes, you can expect to see not one but five new product launches.
The new iPhone 11, the all-new 16-inch MacBook Pro, the 2019 iPad Pro, the Apple Watch Series 5 and the new AirPods are all scheduled to be launched at the event. In this article, I will be covering the MacBook Pro 16 which I feel is going to be the highlight of the show. So, let’s see what you can expect with the all-new MacBook Pro 16.
New 16-inch Retina Display
As the name suggests, the MacBook Pro 16 will feature a 16-inch display. Thanks to Apple’s clever engineering, the new MacBook won’t be any larger than the MacBook Pro 15. The new laptop will feature minimal bezels on all the four sides resulting in a larger screen area.
The resolution of the new MacBook will be 3072×1920 which is the highest on any Mac laptop. Unfortunately, if you were expecting an OLED panel, get prepared to be disappointed. Apple will be sticking with an LCD panel for its first iteration of 16-inch MacBook Pro.
The butterfly mechanism keyboard that was first introduced in the 12-inch MacBook proved to be one of the worst keyboard designs in history. Even after 4th-iteration of the butterfly switch, some people are still having problems with this keyboard design.
And it’s a shame especially since Apple’s keyboards on the 2010-2015 MacBook Pros are known for their excellent typing feedback and great long-term reliability.
With the MacBook Pro 16, the company will introduce an all-new design keyboard. While we aren’t sure what the Keyboard will be called, what we know for sure is that it’s going to be better than what we currently have.
With all the criticism that Apple received over its Butterfly mechanism keyboards in the last few years, we are pretty sure that the company won’t mess with the new design( In theory).
More Power Under The Hood
The new MacBook will either replace the 15.4-inch MacBook Pro or will go on sale as a more premium offering. One thing we know for sure is that it’s going to be the most powerful MacBook laptop Apple will have ever created.
Like the current 15-inch MacBook Pro, the 16-inch MacBook Pro will have 16GB of RAM on the base variant. If 16GB of RAM will not suffice for your needs, you will be able to equip the laptop with up to 32GB of RAM.
All the variants of the 16-inch MacBook will come with 9th generation Intel Core i7 CPUs. However, you will be able to equip the new MacBook Pro with a 6-core Core i9 CPU as an option.
For a company who sells a monitor stand for $1000 without any guilt, it shouldn’t be too difficult to price its new MacBook Pro 16 north of $3000. If the rumors are to be believed, the new MacBook Pro will start at $3000 and will peak at $6000. This news isn’t very surprising as the existing top-of-the-line 15-inch MacBook Pro sells for $5149.
Who is the MacBook Pro 16 for?
Like the iMac Pro and the Mac Pro, the MacBook Pro 16 isn’t going to be for everyone. If you are an enthusiast or a novice, it’s best for you to stick with a cheaper option. However, if you are a working professional who values their time, then the MacBook Pro 16 is going to be your best bet.
